Substance Abuse

You may suffer from substance abuse or know the effects of having the abuse in your life. In either situation of suffering, know there is support and help. I am certified through the State of Iowa to complete drug and alcohol assessments and facilitate treatment groups. This means I am able to give an individual approach to you and address any co-occurring issues. I also provide family therapy during treatment, as substance abuse is a systemic issue that effects and is affected by all systems. Along with having my own private practice, I also serve the Boone County Hospital as their clinical director for their recovery center.

EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Do you ever feel that you are stuck and replaying the same "trailer" of a part of your life throughout the rest of it. EMDR is a tool that helps the brain heal itself naturally by creating the connections between your brain’s memory networks, enabling your brain to process the traumatic memory. EMDR has been used to effectively treat a wide range of mental health problems. I continue training in EMDR monthly and am fascinated by the powerful healing tool this is for many.

Being fully consciously aware means living a present life. Art therapy creates a safe place to bridge the gap between our unconscious thoughts to conscious. This expressive therapy provides communication into healing the hurt parts of ourselves. You do not need to be artistic to incorporate art therapy into your therapy session, as this tool is used for children, adolescents and adults.
